THE FUTURA SPACE HOUSE
Landing in Yucca Valley California
From science fiction to science fact Mark has ventured into the research world to find out why man has evolved and where man is going from here. While writing and filming his movie Smoothies, his mind kept wandering into science fact and that propelled me to channel this new way of looking at ourselves. After 8 years of daily writing and research he came up with Fungus Theory.
Due to its ancestral roots in fungi and subsequent evolutionary development, it's plausible that all complex multicellular life originated from fungus. Fungi likely emerged as the first multicellular organisms long before complex life forms, eventually diversifying into the myriad of plant and animal species we observe today. This hypothesis suggests that all plant and animal life could be considered as part of one interconnected fungal network. Consequently, if humanity were to colonize other celestial bodies before Earth's demise, humans would essentially be the spores of this overarching fungal entity.
Our project is an updated version of the Futuro Space Pod House designed by pioneering architect Matti Suuronen in 1968.
Less than 100 were originally manufactured, and are a very rare find today, and inaccessible to most of the population. However, with its modern updates and streamlined manufacturing plans, the improved take on Futuro design would change this.
The original foam plug mold design (patent pending), will maintain strengths of the Matti Suuronrn design, but include innovations for modern living, making the Futura Space House an attainable goal; an accessible and affordable attraction, viable as both a travel destination and permanent residence.
"Futura" is a slightly larger, rounder version of Matti's wonderful design. It is also equipped with an array of new features, such as a Celestial Viewing Deck, spiral staircase, and [adjustable] windows. Electrical, plumbing, and modern appliances will be included, all styled to complement its singular aesthetic. Home buyers can tailor many aspects to fit their own vision or needs – being a compact structure, customizations are easily implemented.
There are two models of the Futura: one is more symmetrically round (the "space ship style"), and the other is a lager, oval-shaped version for additional room. With the shortage of new housing in the US, and a recent breakthrough in new forms of living--like tiny homes, cabins, and just plain stylized living--Futura is an easily constructed, highly adaptable, prefabbed home on four legs (all while meeting California building and safety standards).
Mold production has already begun, along with the purchase of the first plot of Futura-designated land (set to build in Yucca Valley, CA). Engineering firm Critical Structures Inc. has been employed to assist as well, having previously worked on the reconstruction of an original Futuro Home in Idyllwild, CA.
The Futura House has its first open house set for January of 2023. We hope to see you there; check back soon for the upcoming launch campaign!
Smoothies is the Odyssean tale of two amnesiacs, homeward bound across a desert of apocalyptic proportions. Soon they arrive to a “perfect world” of biologically tampered citizens, thusly marked as contaminants and incarcerated on the basis of genetic inferiority—but this is only the beginning of their journey. Ethically flawed utopias, junkyard civilizations, biological anomalies, and the great consequences of war await them in the posthuman wasteland.
Upon receiving news of his father's death, young mechanic Bondo must immigrate to the United States to provide for his family. Among surmounting obstacles, he finds himself pursued by an unhinged police officer, crossing paths time and again as he struggles to cross the border. Meanwhile, his uncle plans a bloody revenge; "When it comes to family, always intervene."
Repressed by a deeply conservative society, the Box Heads live austere, regimented lives--that is, until a startling event exposes them to the world of rock & roll. Explosive anarchy, impromptu dance numbers, and the Avant-garde interweave to bring you the singular world of Box Head Revolution.
At the age of four, founder of The Find Art Foundation, Mark L. Christensen’s mother showed him how beautiful art could be crafted from found objects, starting his lifelong journey as a maker. Through up-cycling, Mark has created movie props, automobile components, living spaces, and even some of the first snowboard designs. His newest project, the Futura Space House, unites everything he loves —classic science fiction, space-age architecture, and innovative art that aims to inspire all who visit. Mark aims to inspire the growth of human consciousness for future generations through “found” art, which is what drove Mark to launch The Find Art Foundation in 2023.
Mark L. Christensen has dedicated his life to a multitude of creative ventures.
From filmmaker to mechanic, musician to engineer, Mark has learned many crafts to fulfil his visions, however demanding or eclectic. He studied architecture before opting for a lengthy songwriting career, funding his art by restoring vintage automobiles (the number of personal reconstructions now in the hundreds). After moving to Los Angeles, he began writing and directing movies, starting with the feature Box Head Revolution—a film influenced unmistakably by his love of music, machinery, and cinematic impressionism.
A professional multitasker, Mark is perpetually devoted to an array of projects, always working to produce something bold and singular. A handful are still ongoing; years in the making, all of them greatly important to him. With multiple features under his belt, and an accomplished history in prop and architectural fabrication, he deeply values completion, each project signifying a new iteration of his skillset.
